Hannes is the Managing Director of ACRO Securities. Hannes has extensive experience in the financial sector and has worked in risk management and capital markets with a focus on derivatives and bond brokerage since 2005. Hannes headed bond brokerage at Fossar Markets before joining us in 2017. Prior to that he was at the Straumur Investment Bank, Arion Bank and its predecessors. Hannes holds a B.Sc. in mathematics from the University of Iceland, as well as an M.Sc. in financial engineering from the same university and is a legally certified securities trader.
Gunnar is the director of capital markets at ACRO securities. He joined us in 2018 after three years at Fossar Markets, where he played a key role in building up the company. Gunnar started working in the financial sector in 2004 in Kaupthing’s private banking services and has since worked in capital markets with an emphasis on equity sales at Íslandsbanki, Straumur Investment Bank and Fossar Markets. Gunnar holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Reykjavík University and an M.Sc. in Finance and International Business from Aarhus University and is a legally certified securities trader.
Jónas joined us in late 2018 after two years of working at Icelandic Securities (Íslensk verðbréf). Jónas started working in the financial sector in 1999 and has extensive experience in private banking and proprietary trading. Jónas worked the longest at Íslandsbanki, but also worked for Kaupthing for several years. Jónas holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Reykjavík University and is also a legally certified securities trader.
Sigurður Hreiðar joined us in 2017. He has worked in the financial sector since 2003 when he started working for Búnaðarbanki (the Agricultural Bank of Iceland) as a consultant in private banking services. Since then, Sigurður has worked in the field of capital markets and proprietary trading at, among other places, Kaupthing Bank, Straumur Investment Bank, Íslandsbanki and Icelandic Securities in addition to other jobs in the financial market. Sigurður holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Reykjavík University.
Tómas is the director of asset management at ACRO Securities. He started working for us in 2018 after five years with Stefnir where he was fund manager. Tómas started working in the financial sector in 2006 and has worked in fund management, asset management and capital markets in that period. Before joining Stefnir, Tómas worked for UBS International in New York and Landsbankinn. Thomas holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland and is a legally certified securities trader.
Þorbjörn Atli joined us in 2018 after three years at Fossar Markets, where he played a key role in building up the company. Þorbjörn Atli started working in the financial sector in 2007 in Kaupthing's research department, later Arion Bank, and worked there until 2013. Since then, Þorbjörn Atli has worked in the field of capital markets, first at the Straumur Investment Bank and later at Fossar Markets. Þorbjörn Atli has a BA in Economics from the University of Iceland.
Bergsteinn joined us in 2021 after being a project manager at the Nanom entrepreneurial company, prior to which he worked in Íslandsbanki’s Retail Banking division. Bergsteinn holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Iceland and an MFin in International Finance from the University of Glasgow.
Birgir Leifur started working for us at the beginning of 2021. He is a former European Tour professional golfer and a seven-time Icelandic golf champion. In addition to his professionalism, Birgir Leifur worked as the marketing and event manager at the Kópavogur and Garðabær golf clubs and was the sports director of the Leynir Golf Club in Akranes. Birgir Leifur graduated in 2012 as a PGA golf instructor and completed his MBA studies at Reykjavík University in the summer of 2021.
Eiður joined us in the spring of 2020. He has a bachelor's degree in law with a focus on business and is currently writing his thesis for a master's degree at Reykjavik University. Eiður started working in the financial services industry in 2017, among prior employers are Kvika Bank and Alda Asset Management
